  • 2 1/2 cups of Sugar
  • 2/3 cups of shortening (oil)
  • 4 eggs beaten
  • 1 can (1 lb) pumpkin
  • 2/3 cup of water
  • 3 1/3 cups of sifted flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2/3 cup Chopped nuts
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Cloves
  1. 1. Cream together sugar and oil till light and fluffy
  2. 2. Stir in eggs, pumpkin, and water
  3. 3. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and spices
  4. 4. Gradually stir dry ingredients into pumpkin mixture (use electric mixer)
  5. 5. Put into 2 greased loaf pans
  6. 6. Bake at 350 for 1 hour 15 minuets or until cake tester comes out clean
